Dave's Blog

Dave is a Pastor, man, husband, and grampa so if you're not one of those you might find this page less relevant. Of course you're still welcome to check it out - unless you are a woman trying to pick up tips on what your guy should be doing.

Our Lead Pastor recently finished his "Obsessed" series. One of the topics was worship. So I'd like to share a couple of thoughts about why I think you might want to raise your hands in worship.

Jesus talked about loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Men usually think of their hands and arms as a sign of their strength. "Look at those guns!"

  1. Lifted hands is a universal sign of surrender and I can't think of any one I would rather surrender to than God.
  2. Children lift their hands when they want to be picked up. Ever need a pick-me-up?
  3. Paul (the ancient church leader) called for all men, everywhere to lift up their hands as a sign that they were God's men and ready to work together.

I was not born a hands-raiser. At some point if you are going to raise your hands you just have to do it. It's going to feel a little awkward at first.
